Welcome to this essential session designed for parents, carers, and professionals navigating the ever-evolving landscape of neurodiversity. Chaired by Theo, this panel—now in its third year—brings together diverse voices to explore the challenges and opportunities facing families today. 


Attendees will gain valuable insights from the parental perspective, hear from a leader in neurodiversity advocacy, and receive expert legal guidance. Key topics include significant changes such as EHCP reforms, funding challenges, and long waiting lists. This session is designed to empower participants with knowledge, spark meaningful debate, and ensure every voice is heard.

Theo Smith | Event Chair

Theo Smith is a leading neurodiversity advocate, consultant, and the founder of Neurodiversity at Work Ltd. As the co-author of the award-winning book Neurodiversity at Work, Theo has become a globally recognised voice in the field of workplace inclusion.

A LinkedIn Top Voice, Theo is also the host of the popular Neurodiversity with Theo Smith podcast, where he explores the challenges and opportunities of creating inclusive environments for neurodivergent individuals.

Currently, Theo is co-authoring his second book with Professor Amanda Kirby, focusing on neurodiversity for parents, which builds on his passion for empowering families and professionals alike. With a unique blend of expertise in HR, recruitment, and neurodiversity advocacy, Theo works with organisations worldwide to unlock the potential of neurodiverse talent and drive meaningful change. Marie Martin

SEND Warrior Mum Making A Difference (Advocate)

Marie Martin, known as ‘SEND Warrior Mum Making a Difference’ on social media, is a dedicated advocate for children, young people, and their families. As a parent carer to her autistic son, Zak, she passionately supports educators and campaigns for positive change.

Marie actively raises awareness by hosting live sessions, attending meetings, and contributing to national and local newspapers, podcasts, and webinars. She has also spoken on various disability panels.

Committed to creating opportunities for disabled young people, Marie has helped open pathways into independent businesses, facilitating visits and work experience to showcase their talents and demonstrate what can be achieved with the right support and opportunities.

Ben Palmer

Ben Palmer's life took a transformative turn at 45 with an autism and ADHD diagnosis, providing long-awaited validation after years of living with OCD, anxiety, and depression. More recently, he developed C-PTSD following traumatic medical experiences. As a father to two neurodivergent boys, he understands firsthand the challenges of accessing the right support and the deep desire for children to be safe, happy, and have opportunities in life. His extensive lived experience, combined with professional expertise in the SEND sector, shapes his approach to work. Ben is committed to excellence, transparency, equity, simplicity, and authenticity—values he brings to every project, embodying the true essence of the neurodivergent experience.

Ceri Reed

Founder, Parents Voices in Wales CIC

Ceri founded Parents Voices in Wales CIC to support and signpost families whose children and young people have learning differences and/or mental health challenges. PV coproduced the NEST/NYTH Framework and supports its roll out by facilitating parent/carer coproduction in Neurodevelopmental and CAMHS services in Wales.

Ceri co-Chairs the Welsh Government Ministerial Advisory Group, is a panel member of the Welsh Government Education ALN Effective Practice, is stakeholder in the NHS Executive and WG Neurodevelopment Improvement Programme and NHS Executive CAMHS Clinical Implementation Group. Ceri is a Neurodiversity Trainer supporting the whole system in Wales and a stakeholder in the Welsh Local Government Association National Neurodivergence Team’s workstreams.
